Funeral services for Leota Lang, 87, of Wills Point are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, January 18, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Wills Point with Rev. Don Tisdale and Rev. Don Myers officiating. Burial will be at Haven of Memories in Canton under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lang passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 15, 2008.
Winnie Leota Waites was born April 15, 1920, in Myrtle Springs, Texas to C.A. and Emory Waites. She grew up in the Myrtle Springs Community and graduated from Wills Point High School. On June 11, 1938, in Wills Point, she became the wife of Carroll R. Lang.
Mrs. Lang was an accomplished seamstress who trained the first sewing machine operators for Malouf Sewing Factory. She worked as a sales clerk at Cannon Dry Goods and Bruce and Human Drug Company before she and Carroll opened Lang’s Jewelry and Watch Repair, which they operated for thirty five years before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Carroll Lang and is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Freeman, Class of 1961 and husband, Jim of Wills Point; grandson, Rob Freeman and wife, Traci of Post; great-granddaughters, Sarah Freeman and Sammi Jo Freeman of Wills Point; sister, Nita Springer of Wills Point; brother, C.A. Waites and wife, Ann of Canton; step-great-grandchildren Ryan, Reece and Reagan Bologia of Post; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00-8:00 pm, at the Hiett's LyBrand Funeral home in Wills Point.
