A celebration of life for Joseph "Joey" Baker, 52, of Forney, formerly of Wills Point, is scheduled for 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point.
He passed away Monday evening, August 11, 2008, at his residence.
Joey was born September 18, 1955, in Terrell, Texas, the son of Joseph Kirby Baker, Sr. and Sadie Christine Norris Baker. He was raised in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1974. He also attended Texas A&M. Joey was a detective in the traffic division for the Dallas Police Department, retiring in 2006, after thirty years of service. On February 15, 1991, Joey married Faylon Green in Dallas. He also owned and operated Baker Heating & Air in Forney. He enjoyed going trout fishing in Flippin, Arkansas and bass fishing at Lake Fork. He was a member of the Dallas Police Association and was of the Baptist faith. He lived in Royse City prior to moving to Forney fifteen years ago.
Preceded in death by his parents, Kirby Baker on May 23, 2001 and Christine Baker on January 14, 2006; two sisters, Janet Baker Travis in 1967 and Maribeth Baker on December 9, 2001; father-in-law, James D. Green, Sr. on December 31, 2004 and a nephew, Daniel Wayne Green in 1980.
Joey is survived by his wife, Faylon Baker, of Forney; son, Nick Baker & wife, Stephanie, of Terrell; daughter, Sarah Baker, of Forney; mother-in-law, Barbara Green, of Terrell; brother-in-law, James Green & wife, Linda, of Haltom City; sister-in-law, Gaylon Smith & husband, Charles, of Forney; many nieces and nephews.
