Funeral service for Blake C. Furrh, 89, of Wills Point, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point with Rev. Don Myers & Rev. Don Tisdale officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point.

He passed away early Thursday morning, April 16, 2009, in a Dallas hospital.

Blake was born January 7, 1920, in Wills Point, Texas, the son of James Harvey Furrh, Sr. and Era Mae Bishop Furrh. He was raised in the Enterprise Community north of Wills Point, graduating from Wills Point High School Class of 1937. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp, having served during World War II. On June 10, 1949, he married Mary Jo Miller in Edgewood. He had been employed by the Sabine River Authority, Oak Farms and Southland Corp, retiring in 1997. He helped organize South Tawakoni Water Supply and served as a charter member of the Board of Directors. Blake loved his family very much and treasured every moment he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, raising cattle and working his garden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point.

Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Topaz Lea and Rene Young and three nephews, Stevie Furrh, Tim Furrh and James Foster.

Blake is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Furrh, of Wills Point; four daughters, Mary Furrh Davis & husband, Don, of Wills Point, Ann Furrh Mitchell & husband, Larry, of Wills Point, Jeanne Furrh Cotten & husband, Ron, of Garland and Holly Furrh Stokes & husband, David, of Wills Point; two brothers, James H. Furrh, Jr. & wife, Billie Ann, of Canton and Ted Furrh & wife, Betty, of Mesquite; two sisters, Peggy Ingram & husband, Bill, of Wills Point and Patsy Doane, of Santa Fe; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Blake Cotten, Kelley Jo Fletcher & husband, John, Brian David Stokes & wife, Stefanie, Scott Christopher Mitchell and Colin Grant Mitchell; three great-grandchildren, Holden Fletcher, Hunter Stokes and Jett Fletcher and numerous other relatives.

Pallbearers: Brian Stokes, Jeff Cotten, Scott Mitchell, Colin Mitchell, Phillip Doane and John Fletcher.

Honorary Pallbearers: Leon Lester, Herschel Ewalt, Pete Lovvorn, Robert Lovvorn, Cecil Adams, David Adams, Billy Miller and Dewitt Deen.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 8:00 p.m.
