Funeral service for Mattie Belle Kinney, 82, of Wills Point, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2009, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Dr. Gene Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.
She passed Monday afternoon, August 3, 2009, in a Kaufman hospital.
Mattie Belle was born November 26, 1926, in Canton, Texas, the daughter of Elmo McCord and Ottie Marie Norman McCord. She was raised in Van Zandt County and graduated from Canton High School in 1943. On December 11, 1947, she married Hubert L. Kinney. Mattie Belle had been a secretary for the City of Wills Point and a bookkeeper for Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers. She was a member of Russell Memorial United Methodist Church in Wills Point.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband, Hubert L. Kinney in November 1983.
Mattie is survived by two sons, Gary L. Kinney, of Kaufman and Greg Kinney & wife, Tracey, of Wills Point; daughter, Linda Gann & husband, Charles, of Terrell; brother, Dr. Kenneth McCord & wife, Joyce, of Commerce; three sisters, Veta Burns & husband, Jim, of Canton, Jo Marvin & husband, Jack, of Coalinga, California and Wanda Westmoreland & husband, Robert, of Canton; eight grandchildren, Chris Kinney & wife, Heather, Clay Dodgen & wife, Meredith, Richie Dodgen & wife, Jill, Garrett Kinney, Cristy Kluener & husband, Dan, Kim Gann, Brittney Dawson and Blake Sanders & wife, Marcie; seven great-grandchildren, Cambrie & Brooks Dodgen, Garron & Madelyn Kinney, Logan Anne Dodgen, Kennedy Dawson and Kyler Sanders.
Pallbearers: Charles Gann, Chris Kinney, Clay Dodgen, Richie Dodgen, Garrett Kinney and Blake Sanders.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
