Cannefax, Maedell (b86)

Funeral services for Maedell Cannefax, 92, of Royse City and formerly of Wills Point, are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 29, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Wills Point, TX, with Rev. Don Myers and Rev. Don Tisdale officiating. burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas.

Maedell passed away in Royse City, TX, on April 26, 2012.

Effie Maedell Cannefax was born March 6, 1920 in the Stone Point community near Canton, Texas to the late Lula and Pledger Harris. She went to the Hayden schools until transferring to Canton High School where she graduated in 1937. She attended TSCW (now Texas Womanís University). Maedell married Herbert Cannefax in 1941 at the Hayden Baptist Church. They were married 63 years until Herbertís death in 2003. They lived most of their lives in the Fairview Community near Wills Point. Maedell was a homemaker raising five children and worked in the Wills Point schools as a health and P.E. teacher and playground coordinator. She also worked at the Malouf Factory for several years. Maedell was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Wills Point where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years, sang in the choir and played both piano and organ. She played for several churches at revivals and funeral homes in the area.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Cannefax; son, David Cannefax; daughter-in-law, Pam Cannefax; grandson, Jason Cannefax; sisters, Lucille Miller, Faye Willis, Gladys Miller and Rubye Hill; and brother, Luther Harris.

Maedell is survived by sons, Bobby Cannefax and wife, Jan of Allen, Charles Cannefax and wife, Martha of Combine, Steve Cannefax and wife, Laura of Arlington; daughter Linda Honeycutt and husband, Weldon of Rockwall; brother, Welden Harris of Portland, Oregon; grandsons, Alan and Denise Cannefax of Frisco, Brian and Dinah Cannefax of Combine, Matt and Jen Honeycutt of Littleton, Colorado, Eric and Misty Cannefax of Lewisville, Russell and Carri Honeycutt of Forney, Travis and Jami Cannefax of Eden, Utah, Cody and Jen Cannefax of North Richland Hills, Dawson Cannefax of Arlington, Kevin and Dawn Isaacs of Burleson; granddaughter, Lauren Cannefax of Arlington; great-grandchildren, Cody Jr, Conner, Lily, Ethan, Eli and Corb Cannefax and Owen and Claire Honeycutt and Grace and Reese Maedell Honeycutt, and Marissa Isaacs; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday evening.
